Transgenderism -wanting to change your gender because you feel you are in the wrong body- has become an increasingly pressing issue in recent years. Transgender ideology claims that each person has a ‘gender identity’ (an internal sense of gender) which may or may not align with their biological sex. Many activists and celebrities are pushing societies towards accepting this ideology unquestioningly and shutting down essential debates on this issue which eventually has led to damaging consequences. But, in this article we’re going to search, question and argue to clarify the confusion accompanied with this topic to reveal the truth.

First: From a logical point of view

Facts VS Feelings

The assumption that a person’s subjective feeling overrides the objective biological reality is just misleading. Feelings are changeable, temporary and often times they are deceiving as well and these three facts are enough for not letting our own feelings rule our lives, make our decisions or in our case here, determine our gender identity. How does a biological man come to the conclusion that he is a woman? Basically because he feels like one! And what exactly is a female feeling? In what objective sense do these feelings make him a woman? You can’t just modify basic biology because that’s how you feel or because it threatens your very subjective idea of who you think you are. Accordingly, you can’t just choose your own pronouns and demand that people refer to you as you’d wish because human beings exist in a sex binary either male or female.

Gender and sex aren’t malleable

For all human history, boy means boy and girl means girl. The basic idea that male and female are disconnected or malleable is simply against mammalian biology, not just humans. For example, are gender and sex different in dogs/birds/etc.?! Definitely not! Gender and sex are not susceptible to change. However, it is important to note that men may have feminine characteristics and also women may have masculine ones, yet a man with feminine characteristics is still a man and a woman with masculine characteristics is still a woman. Therefore, just as you can’t magically change your age, you can’t also change your gender.

Degrading manhood and womanhood

Transgenderism sells this idea that you can change your gender and by cross-dressing and making exterior modifications to your body then you’d become the gender that you desire. This may seem appealing to many people at first, but the truth is your gender is a fixed reality, proved by your biology and declared by every cell in your body. So mere outward changes as growing a beard or putting makeup on does nothing but cheapens the concepts of manhood and womanhood and turns them into demeaning elements and disregards the true biological and psychological differences between men and women.

Second: From a scientific point of view

Intersex

Intersex is a general term used for a variety of situations in which a person is born with reproductive or sexual anatomy that doesn’t fit male or female. So, it’s important to highlight that an intersex person has a physical problem, but a transsexual does not.

Gender Dysphoria

A person with gender dysphoria experiences conflict between their birth assigned sex and their gender identity.  Gender dysphoria is a condition that can have a significant impact on a person’s quality of life and in this case, therapy should step in to help people suffering from gender dysphoria. On saying that, one must note that medicine or any form of therapy aren’t supposed to make you happy in the moment, but they aim for your overall wellness. Immorality comes when instead of accepting who you really are and finding joy and fulfillment in that, they’re selling false promises of satisfaction that are not based on reliable long-term studies, that all your problems will go away if you would pretend that you are the gender you claim membership to, and that of course is delusional.

Suicidal rates, anxiety and depression

Studies show shocking rates among the trans community. Data indicate that 82% of transgender individuals have considered killing themselves and 40% have attempted suicide, with suicidality highest among transgender youth. While many stakeholders and social media influencers always say that the reason behind these alarming rates is that transgender young people experience family rejection, bullying and harassment, our answer is that the suicidal rate in the general community is 4%! Which makes the transgender community 10 times higher than the general community. So, the idea of 36% of people committing suicide because people are mean to them is hardly reasonable. In addition to that, there is no evidence whatsoever that the suicide rate will go down if we agreed on their thoughts! Also, according to the U.S. Transgender Survey, 39% report serious psychological distress in terms of anxiety/depression/etc. compared to just 5% of the general United States population.

The effect of puberty blockers used in the transgender process

The people who work/support transgenderism claim that the puberty blocker drug used in the process which is called “Lupron” is completely reversable and that what it does to the body is just it pauses its development like when you pause a song and then you can continue listening to it and that of course is another lie! The truth is there has been no studies whatsoever done that proved this “pause” effect, so the generation that they’re applying this on actually act as lab rats to see the consequences of using this drug. However, what we do know and what has been scientifically proven is that Lupron is actually a drug for prostate cancer that is given to adult men and after realizing later that it had chemical castration properties, they started giving it to sex offenders to chemically castrate pedophiles. So, when you give a kid (or anyone) a puberty blocker, you are performing chemical castration on them. Puberty blocking drugs as Lupron is used off label so that pharmaceutical companies can profit millions from selling it. Therefore, people who are in this industry are basically making money off of promoting gender confusion especially in kids.

The outcome of the gender reassigning surgeries

First off, the review of more than 100 international medical studies of post-operative transsexuals by the University of Birmingham’s aggressive research intelligence facility (Arif) found no robust scientific evidence that gender reassignment surgery is clinically effective. In addition to that, there is no conclusive evidence that sex change operations improve the lives of transsexuals, with many people remaining severely distressed and even suicidal after the operation.

Third: From a biblical point of view

The Bible states that people are made in the image of God as male or female (Genesis 1:27) and that a person’s sex is determined by God from conception. While men and women in Scripture may express their masculinity and femininity in a wonderful diversity of ways, Scripture still operates with the binary categories of men and women. God made the woman to be a complement and help to the man (Gen. 2:18-22) where God depicts the existence of a man and a woman as essential to his creational plan. The two are neither identical nor interchangeable. But when the woman, who was taken out of man, joins again with the man in sexual union, the two become one flesh (Gen. 1:23-24) dividing the human race into two genders, male and female.

Finally, it is not loving to affirm the idea that a person is ‘trapped in the wrong body’ – especially when this could encourage them to undergo medical interventions that are dangerous both physically and psychologically. So, as Christians we are to speak the truth, which is the harm transgenderism can cause, but in love, applying biblical principles without compromise but with compassion.
